Corruption Free India

Ones again bureaucracy has shown rude to poor slums. Slum in lucknow in gomtinagar surviving since fifteen years in a land when it was far from amenities of city, which is now attracting to everyone because of its surrounding is now in the ambit of posh city. The land which can be converted in any government department or trade office or business yundertaking.

It was the shocking and almost thundering day for them when bureaucracy has come with bulldozers’, police and officials gathered them to smash their livelihoods. Poor slum not knowing their rights, illiterate & managing their food every day earning. Slum is divided into two parts; one is of Muslims community and another of Hindu community.

They are earning their hard income from the works of handicraft like stone & traditional cultural products ( dholakh aur sill ka kam). The work which is now shrinking day by day and replace by innovative products available in every corner of market. When often we are visiting, they are coming in crowed and asking for work to us, high and middle class people want to make distance from them, hesitate to talk them and not require any relationship. We are like embassy, they thinking. Anyhow of our best some of them we provide two three day work. Every night before going for sleep they pray for next morning not to face with government bulldozers. It is not only them to lost their land but also vanish from the city and means of earning.

It is not only immoral but impels them to crime. Unemployment, homeless, illiteracy and unfavorable government are the main cause for spreading crime in society. Who birth naksalwad & mauwad. First we are making them and then facing them.

First Government not developed the land and then they are taking its fruit. Where was bureau before fifteen years, why they not stop them then? This time they are very clever to have land without any compensation etc., they not want to expose the issue, bureau has prepared well this time. And we are sure they takeover land because this is also the same situation when they can easily face illiterate & poor slum. And ultimately society will face looming threat of crime.

Save poor, save crime.

BHARAT KI AWAZ

Remove Poverty Not Poors

The slum-dwellers said that 2 men had come a day earlier to give a verbal warning about the demolition, but there was no official notice. The next day the bulldozers were used to savagely demolish the houses ignoring all pleas of mercy and without even giving them enough time to gather their belongings out and take their children to safety. After the residents protested, the police lathi-charged them and beat up everybody who was resisting the illegal demolition and ignored their cries for mercy. Soon fire broke out, and everything in the houses from personal belongings for essential daily tasks to books and even money were burned to ashes.

As if that wasn't enough, they even arrested 2 boys on charges of theft when they tried to collect their own belongings from their houses had been razed. Monsoon rain and sewer lines which run nearby added to their woes as their lives were thrown into misery. In addition to the complete devastation of houses and belongings, many people were hurt in the lathi charge to the point of being hospitalized. Even now, the fate of babies as young as 3 days old and those unborn in their mother’s wombs lies on the edge of a knife.

There has been no relief for the victims since the incident occurred and all the men women and their children have been hungry and thirsty without proper clothes to wear or a roof to protect them from the rains. If help does not reach them fast, they might find it extremely difficult to survive the harsh conditions.

We hope that you will realize the seriousness of the issue and contribute whatever little you can towards saving the poor people, and especially the small children from the misery they have been subjected to. The first priority at the moment is to ensure that food, water and old used clothes are provided to the victims. Meanwhile, we shall be trying our best bring the concerned authorities to justice and appeal to the Government to implement immediate rehabilitation procedures for the victims.

We are a small group of youngsters with few resources of our own and your support is urgently needed. If you want to get more information about the incident, and wish to help in any manner please contact us-

POWER OF YOUTH: POWER TO THE AAM AADMI

The power of the common man was proven today by the activists of the Youth Movement Against Corruption . All over the world today there are are conferences and awareness campaigns taking place to save the environment in which politicians, journalists and social workers are involved. NGO’S are spending crores of rupees to conserve the environment. But the ground realities are very different.
In the name of industrialization, industrial units are playing havoc with the lives of the ‘aam aadmi’.Instead of installing ETP( Effluent Treatment Plants) these units are manipulating the Pollution Control Board. One example of this can be found in the industrial units of Sandila under Hardoi district .Akhilesh Saxena, a social activist has sent reports regarding this blatant exploitation of environment to the Governor & Chief Minister of U.P. State Pollution Control Board(UPPCB) as well as the Central Pollution Control Board.(CPCB)On getting no response to his report the journalists of The Times of India inspected the area. After this the authorities of the Central Pollution Control Board visited the region and the Nodal Officer of the UPPCB was summoned who declined to come citing engagement with the Ganga Action plan. When the CPCB sent a sample to Delhi the report of the results of this test was published on page 2 of The Times of India under the heading “ Zero percent discharge units painted gomti black”.
http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/lucknow/Zero-discharge-units-paint-Gomti-black/articleshow/5294320.cms
On that very day the UPCCB served Closure Notices to these industrial units. Yet during interaction with villagers it transpired that their land- which was their sole source of livelihood -had become barren and they were suffering from diseases because of these industrial units. All these villagers subsequently complained to the Special Magistrate( Prosecution Officer Environment) , CBI. When no action was taken on their complaint the Gram Panchayat decided to file a PIL through Himanshu Gandhi (Social Activist), Abhishek, Amit, Savita, Ranjit and the social Actvist Akhilesh Saxena of the Youth Movement against Corruption.(YMAC). The hearing on this PIL took place on 5 June 2010 in before the bench of Justice S.S.Chauhan. Akhilesh Saxena, Himanshu Gandhi,Abhishek,Ranjeet Kumar and the villagers appealed to the Honourable Bench at which the Member Secretary UPPCB and Regional Officer CPCB were summoned to appear before the aforesaid bench to give their reply to the PIL.The next date of hearing has been scheduled on 19th July 2010.

WE NEED CHANGE

We Indians are great at commenting on the present state of affairs in our country, but at the same time extremely weak in analyzing the true causes and much less the measures that WE can and are supposed to take to solve the various social, economic and political problems. And even when some of the more intellectual citizens venture to find solutions, they are too lazy to implement it. Moreover, the present environment is highly unfavourable to any kind of radical change for a noble cause due to our inefficient and irresponsible administration and the lack of commitment in ourselves to bring a change.
